Training
BlackHorse Contractors are committed to training and personal development, which would enhance its future delivery of systems and service to our many clients. We are dedicated to achieving 100% CSCS accreditation before January 1st 2008.
Our current level of accredited personnel stands at 93%
Induction
Each employee is provided with an introduction to the company explaining our history, size of the regions and the people involved.
This is followed by the company induction, which briefly explains emergency procedures in case of fire or accident.
Practical training “the basics”
Depending on the type of work, an assessment of training needs will follow.
For example:
Office staff may only require Manual handling, fire evacuation and display screen training.
Operatives may initially require manual handling, abrasive wheel training and site specific induction to a site.
Site supervisors are internally trained to fulfil their roles on a CDM run site, as well as manual handling and abrasive wheels.
Toolbox talks on varying subjects are delivered monthly and a regular newsletter is packed with the latest legislation that may improve our operational systems.
The site-specific training may also include: first aid certificate, Confined spaces certificate, streetworks certificate and the water companies’ accreditation certificate.
CSCS accreditation
Every operative who joins our organisation before 12th November 2007 will be able to attend a touch screen test and be placed onto a training program with the company. After that date all operatives will need to hold a CSCS card prior to joining the company.
CPCS accreditation
Any plant operative joining the company is assessed by our plant-training manager, who arranges continual personal development through a training provider. Most of our plant operative’s have/are undergoing NVQ training.
Specific administrative training
Directors, managers, surveyors and office staff are assessed for training requirements which is delivered when the need arrives in order to update skills for new systems and administrational duties.
